Kolcraft Enterprises has voluntarily issued a recall of 425,000 playpens after the death of a 10-month-old baby. The company’s playpen recall includes 12 models of Play Yard brand playpens that pose hazards for babies with raised changing tables and raised cradles.
The playpens where manufactured in China, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. They say a restraint strap beneath the changing table forms a loop, posing the risk of strangulation. The child is also at risk of suffocation if they get trapped underneath the cradle.
Anyone with the playpen is urged to remove the changing table and cradle before putting children in the playpen.
