Fred Thompson, the self-proclaimed ultra conservative seeking the Republican nomination for president is still running through Iowa expressing views for a more conservative administration, with claims he is the candidate that lead the party to an election victory.
Security, Unity and Prosperity are the buzzwords of his campaign as he attempts to appeal to voters seeking a return to the Republican glory days. His conservative leanings may be hitting home with many voters while at the same time causing a rift with Republicans on the Hill. The former Tennessee Senator has ties to abortion rights groups and advocates enforcing existing immigration laws before implementing any reforms, both view running contrary to the current administration.
Polling information at www.usaelectionpolls.com show him with close to 26 percent in Iowa, one of the first primaries, often considered a predictor of future primaries and he is enjoying a 21 percent rating the Red States. In Iowa, his ranking of 16 percent is flirting with whom many see as the top contender Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney.
What some detractors may fail to realize that despite his late entry into the nominating field, his popularity is slowly rising. His message about uniting the country for one purpose, the betterment of the individuals and less government intervention, according to the poll results, may be resonating with the ones who matter the most…the voters.
Even some who considered themselves to lean to the liberal side of politics are listening to Thompson’s message as it relates directly to them and the families. Many voters are more interested in how his programs can help them as opposed to what they perceive to be special interest, big money contributors.
