Does The Country Need An Acting President?

Fred Thompson has had a wide-ranging career, from attorney with the United States government, Republican Senator from Tennessee and actor. He is currently performing on a national stage as he seeks the Republican nomination for president. Entering the battle, already in progress, he started out with more ground in the polls than some candidates will garner throughout the episode.

His opinions on enforcing current immigration laws seem to be reaching the southern states as his poll numbers in the south put him at nearly 26 percent, according to results compiled at www.usaelectionpolls.com. The west also shows an over 20 percent rating in the polls and the red states show him favored with poll numbers of 21 percent.

His roles in movies such as the “Hunt For Red October” and in television’s “Law and Order” have given him recognition above many other candidates. However, it appears that what he says that isn’t written on cue cards in front of a camera is being well received by the voting public.

Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney were considered the front-runners just before Thompson made his candidacy known and he quickly moved into the top three. Despite Romney’s win in the Iowa straw polls, Thompson believes his conservative message is ringing true with more voters. He may have picked up a few more supporters during a recent appearance in front of the NRA, as he reminded them of his support for the Second Amendment that became public in 1994, when he ran for his first term in Tennessee.
