Hurricane Lorenzo Slams Mexican Coast

Hurricane Lorenzo slammed into the east-central Mexican coast this morning packing 80 mph winds when it struck.

The Category 1 hurricane made landfall approximately 40 miles south of Tuxpan, one of Mexico’s oil producing regions. Shortly after hitting land Hurricane Lorenzo weakened and fell back to a tropical storm yet forecasters have predicted it could still drop up to ten inches of rain in some areas.

The US National Hurricane Center warned that the storm could produce life-threatening flash floods as well as mudslides.
