Although he joined the race let, Fred Thompson's name has been out there for quite awhile when it comes to someone who might be picking up some votes as other opponents lost support. It is happening currently with Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani.
It appears that, according to the latest polls at USAElectionPolls.com, support for Giuliani seems to be challenged in some areas by Fred Thompson. Many seem to think that this could be a result of some of Giuliani's supporters, for whatever reason, deciding that they would want to change horses and vote instead for Fred Thompson.
These polls, as one looks at them, say a great deal about the GOP. First of all, they show that Giuliani might not have what it takes to lead the GOP in start off races. They also show that in general, Republicans have no clear cut front runner, which means that they aren't quite sure who they should be voting for. This leads to some major problems within the party.
The polls that are coming out now are showing a slow but general flip flop of votes from Giuliani to Thompson. This could be a margin of only a few percentage points, but in the end this is what will determine who wins the nomination. The upsweep in points is looking to come for Thompson from the Republicans who were previously hurting for a deep south candidate to support. For them, Thompson seems to fit the bill. However, it remains to be seen if it will hold or not.
