NBA Schedule Monday March 3: LeBron and Cavs Look for 5th Straight in NJ, Mavericks Gun for 9th Straight Against Timberwolves
The NBA schedule for March 3 features few key matchups but a couple streaks are on the line as the Cleveland Cavaliers will be looking for their fifth straight win when they travel to take on the New Jersey Nets and the Dallas Mavericks will be gunning for number nine in a row when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
LeBron James has his Cavaliers sitting comfortably atop the Eastern Conference with a six game cushion over the Orlando Magic. Cleveland won’t rest on that lead though and while the Nets are awful they did knock off the Celtics in Boston last week.
Dallas is the hottest team in the NBA with eight straight wins and Dirk Nowitzki has plenty of help with Jason Kidd elevating is play along with the addition of Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood the Mavs have jumped to the number two spot in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves have won just five games on the road this year and are at the bottom of the Western Conference, a recipe for one more loss.
Perhaps the most promising game on the NBA slate will be the Oklahoma City Thunder traveling to face the Denver Nuggets. Kevin Durant has his Thunder fighting for a playoff spot and the team has picked up three wins in a row while the Nuggets have been on a bit of a slide, dropping their last two games and not looking like a team that would challenge the Los Angeles Lakers for the Western Conference crown.
