Newt Gingrich won’t enter the 2008 presidential race after finding out that it would not be possible to remain head of his tax-exempt organization American Solutions for Winning the Future while simultaneously exploring a bid.
According to his Gingrich’s spokesman Rick Tyler “Newt is not running. It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions and to explore a campaign for president.”
Gingrich has been critical of the current field of Republican candidates, noting that most have failed to demonstrate the conservative values that he believes defines the party.
The former House Speaker will retain his position with his organization as well as fulfill his contract with Fox News as a commentator.
