Madeleine McCann parents face jail time

Kate and Gerry McCann could face jail time if they defend themselves in their missing daughter Madeleine McCann’s case. The couple could be imprisoned for 12 months if they speak out against allegations that they killed their daughter because of strict Portuguese secrecy laws.

Police believe that Kate and Gerry McCann are responsible for their daughter’s disappearance and possible death. They accuse Kate of accidentally killing Madeleine with an overdose of sedatives, and say Gerry helped his wife cover the crime. The allegations came after traces of Madeleine’s DNA was found in a car the McCann’s rented 25 days after their daughter disappearance.

The latest accusation thrown at the McCann’s by police is that Madeleine died in a “fatal and mysterious hour and a half” and say the McCann’s hid Madeleine’s body in a refrigerator at the facility they were staying. They say then the body “passed through various locations” and was then disposed of.

Portugal has strict secrecy laws, and because of that Gerry and Kate McCann cannot speak about the investigation or they can be arrested and put in jail.

“Each and every one of those nonsensical allegations caused real pain and hurt for both Gerry and Kate,” said the McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell.
