Nationwide Beef Recall due to E. Coli contamination

The USDA has issued a nationwide recall for 21.7 million pounds of ground beef after several cases of E. Coli have been reported. The meat is believed to be contaminated with the bacteria. Symptoms of the intestinal illness include severe stomach cramps and bloody diarrhea.

The following brands are apart of the Topps Beef Company recall: Kohler Foods, Mike’s, Rastelli’s Fine Foods, Roma-Topps, Sam’s Choice, Sand Castle Fine Meats, Shop Rite and Westside. The recalled products are all branded with “Est. 9748” inside the USDA mark. They have a sell by date between Sept. 2007 and Sept. 2008.
