March 3, 2010, Tampa, Florida - Just a few years ago the majority of people had no idea what ball room dancing was all about. But today, because of the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars, they know about it and love it. Good Life Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay’s premier lifestyle show that reports on local flavor from the fast-growing Tampa Bay market, reported on the 12th annual Millennium Dancesport Championships hosted at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg. Dancing with the Stars’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff were the celebrity-guest judges.
Former World Champion Dancer and the event’s producer, Michael Chapman, has created one of the most popular dance competitions in North America. The four day event that took place June 23rd through 27th featured thousands of dancers, ranging in ages from 8 to 96, from all across the US and 35 countries. Local Tampa celebrity and entrepreneur, Julie Weintraub from the Gold and Diamond Source was one of the key sponsors who donated proceeds from her jewelry sales to the Suncoast Animal League in honor of the event.
The Good Life Tampa Bay crew was there to film and interview some of the best dancers in the world who commit long hours to perfecting their art. As Weintraub said it best, “[Millennium Dancesport Championships] is just a glamorous, wonderful thing to be involved in.”
