Princess Diana pregnancy may never be proved, says inquest

An inquest into the death of Princess Diana and her lover Dodi al-Fayed may never know if the princess of Whales was pregnant on the night she tragically died in a car accident.

Mohamed al-Fayed, Dodi’s father, believe the couple were killed at the order of Diana’s former father-in-law, Prince Phillip. Fayed alleges Diana was pregnant and planning to marry Dodi, so the Royal family wanted them dead. There was reportedly and engagement ring to prove they planned to wed, but Lord Justice Scott Baker says there was conflicting evidence about the alleged ring.

“It is likely that pregnancy is a matter that cannot be proved one way or the other in scientific terms in this case,” Baker says.

Baker concludes that based on scientific evidence the driver of the car, Henri Paul, had a blood alcohol level of three times the legal limit in France.

Fayed also claims Diana’s body was quickly embalmed in Paris to cover up the fact that she was pregnant. The coroner claims they had to embalm the body right away because it was “rapidly deteriorating” and attempts to slow deterioration failed.
