College Basketball News: Baylor Bears Star Brittney Griner Suspended for Punch

Baylor Bears star player Brittney Griner has been suspended for at least one game and could face additional penalties after punching a Texas Tech Red Raiders player in the face during Wednesday night’s game.

Griner delivered the blow to Jordan Barncastle face in the second half after the two tangled on the block while trying to gain position. After the pair got tangled and the whistle blew Barncastle turned her head from Griner who then delivered an overhand right to the face, breaking the freshman’s nose.

On Thursday the Big 12 ruled that Griner would have to sit out Baylor’s final regular season game and could face further disciplinary action that would knock her out of the Big 12 tournament as well as the NCAA tournament.
