Carolina Panthers Release Jake Delhomme

The Carolina Panthers are not happy about releasing Jake Delhomme, but the decision had to be made. On Friday morning, Panthers general manager Marty Hurney and coach John Fox announced that Delhomme was being released and that Matt Moore will be taking his place as starting quarterback. Fox fought back tears in what was a very emotional and hard decision. Delhomme is the only quarterback to lead the franchise to the Super Bowl, and he is a 2005 Pro Bowl selection. After an unfortunately weak 2009 season, the decision was apparently best for the team.
