Michael Devlin says Shawn Hornbeck talked him out of killing him, receives 3 life terms

Michael Devlin made shocking admissions in the kidnapping case of Shawn Hornbeck. Devlin abducted Hornbeck, who was 11-years-old at the time, in 2002. The former pizzeria manager took Hornbeck back to his apartment and repeatedly sexually assaulted him.

Devlin admits he was going to kill Hornbeck, but the boy talked him out of it. He attempted to strangle him, but Hornbeck resisted and talked Devlin into letting him live. “I attempted to kill (Shawn) and he talked me out of it,” Devlin admits.

“This boy made a contract, this deal with the devil, only to survive,” said the prosecutor.

Devlin pleaded guilty to all charges, which included kidnapping and sexual assault, in Hornbeck’s case as well as William ‘Ben’ Ownby’s case.

Ownby was kidnapped by Devlin in January, and only held for 4 days before police found he and Hornbeck in Devlin’s apartment.

Devlin, 41, has received three life sentences plus 60 years in the Hornbeck case as well as a life sentence in the Ownby case.
