ConAgra Says Salmonella Is Tied to Banquet Pot Pies

ConAgra Foods said on Tuesday that some consumers were diagnosed with salmonella after eating its Banquet Turkey and Chicken Pot Pies.

Conagra said it was told by health officials in several states that a number of consumers had salmonella after eating the pies.

Conagra said consumers shouldn't eat the pies while it investigates the matter in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Based in Omaha, Neb., ConAgra is one of the largest U.S. food companies, sending products to grocers, restaurants and food service establishments. ConAgra brands include Healthy Choice, Chef Boyardee and Hebrew National.

Salmonella is a bacteria that may enter the digestive tract in contaminated food and cause abdominal pains and violent diarrhea.
