Camp Victory, the main US military base in Baghdad, was struck by mortar or rocket fire on Wednesday resulting in the death of two soldiers and wounding at least 38 others.
US military officials acknowledge that two soldiers had been killed but listed them as members of the coalition force and did not specify the nationalities of the victims. Several of those wounded in the attack were also designated as “third country nationals.”
The Camp Victory military base, built on the grounds of a presidential palace belonging to former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, is situated near the Baghdad International Airport.
