Jeanette Sliwinski’s trial began today. Sliwinski, a former model, plead not guilty to first degree murder in the deaths of three men. On July 14, 2005 Sliwinski ran three red lights and rammed her Ford Mustang into a Honda Civic carrying Michael Dahlquist, John Glick, and Douglas Meis. She was going at least 70 mph at the time of the crash.
Jury selection was scheduled for today, but the Morton Grove woman waived her rights to a jury trial. Sliwinski’s attorney, Tom Green, says evidence will prove that his client was ‘insane’ at the time of the crash.
Prosecutors say Sliwinski was trying to kill herself by crashing into the car. She walked away from the crash with only a broken ankle.
