Radio host Randi Rhodes mugged

Radio host Randi Rhodes was mugged Sunday night. The attack happened close to her home in Manhattan. Her co-host Jon Elliot said the incident happened while she was walking her dog neat the corner of 39th Street and Park Avenue.

Elliot said “this does not appear to me to be a standard grab the money and run mugging” as Rhodes did not have a purse or any jewelry on her. He speculates it was a hate crime and an attempt to “silence one of our own.” 

Rhodes lost several teeth in the attack. She has been with Air America Radio since its start in 2004.

“Is this an attempt by the right wing hate machine to silence one of our own? Are we threatening them” Are they afraid we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?” Elliot asked in air.
