Ron Paul Snubbed by Texas Governor as Rick Perry Endorses Rudy Giuliani

Despite sharing the same state Texas Gov. Rick Perry overlooked Congressman Ron Paul and declared he would endorse Rudy Giuliani for president in the upcoming 2008 election.

Perry made his announcement on Wednesday and cited Giuliani’s “clarity of purpose” on the hot the key issues of terrorism, border security, crime and taxes as reason for his endorsement.

It was that “clarity of purpose” that Perry doesn’t see in Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Taking a shot at the former Massachusetts governor, Perry saying, the next president “must be willing to act decisively to respond to threats without dialing up their lawyers first.”

Perry was referring to Romney’s response at the last Republican debate in which he said, when confronted with a question about a hypothetical quick response against Iran, he would consult with attorneys before opting to attack.

The endorsement by Perry is seen as a major victory for Giuliani, who may be able to rally enough support in the large state to overcome conservatives critical of his stance on abortion.
