Norman Mailer Hospitalized, “Not in Very Good Shape” According to Former Wife

Norman Mailer, the two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author and noted journalist, is reportedly in an intensive care unit at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, suffering from acute respiratory problems.

According to The New York Post former wife Carol Mailer said, “he's not in very good shape. It's breaking my heart.”

Mailer, 84, considered a pioneer in the field of creative non-fiction, won a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award in 1968 for his nonfiction piece Armies of the Night. A decade later Mailer would earn another Pulitzer Prize for his effort The Executioner’s Song.
