Pensacola Tornado Knocks Out Power, Causes Major Damage Along Panhandle

A tornado that touched down in Pensacola, Florida has knocked out power in several areas and caused major damage along the panhandle near the border of Alabama.

The twister damaged the city’s main shopping mall, a day care center, several buildings and churches and homes as braches and debris were thrown through the air and glass windows were shattered.

The Pensacola area had been hit by morning rains that were part of a storm developing over the Gulf but the winds began to pick up and by noon a tornado had formed and struck the busy downtown area.

Tornado warnings have been issued for the area as more severe weather is expected throughout the day.
