Acclaimed actress Deborah Kerr died Tuesday in
Kerr played in several films that earned her six best actress Academy Awards nominations including her role in “Edward, My Son,” “From Here to Eternity,” “The King and I,” “Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison,” “Separate Tables” and “Sundowners.”
Her most memorable role was in “From Here to Eternity.” Kerr played the adulterous wife of an Army officer who has an affair with an Army sergeant, who is played by Burt Lancaster. Lancaster and Kerr were in perhaps on of the most memorable love scenes of all time when their characters passionately embraced while waves washed over them on a Hawaiian beach.
Kerr is survived by her husband Peter Viertel, her two daughters, and three grandchildren.
