Reggae legend Lucky Dube was murdered in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday evening when he was attacked by a group of hijackers who shot the prolific 43-year-old artist responsible for 21 albums during a 25 year period.
Police say that Dube was gunned down while driving his car in the suburb of Rosettenville. The musicians had just dropped his son off when the attackers approached him and opened fire.
Born in South Africa, Dube rose to fame in the Reggae world with his album “Think About the Children” released in 1985. His social message targeting the struggling black man gained him a world wide following and led to commercial success for his music.
