Malibu Fire Scorches More Than 2,200 Acres, Destroys Homes and Buildings

The Malibu fire that is considered “zero percent contained” by acting Mayor Pamela Ulich, has continued to spread and has shown an indiscriminate appetite for the buildings, homes and land that it has claimed.

With multi-million dollar homes owned by celebrities such as James Cameron and Olivia Newton John, as well as more than two dozen rehab facilities including the posh Promises Residential Treatment Center- home for a spell to Britney Spears, Ben Affleck and Matthew Perry, the Malibu fires have been chewing up some of the priciest real estate in the world.

Among the notable structures that have already been claimed by the Malibu fires are the Castle Kashan and the Malibu Presbyterian Church. Pepperdine University was threatened by the blaze but firefighters now believe the school will be safe. Of course that could all change with the winds as hurricane strength gusts have continued to fuel the blaze and make its direction all the more unpredictable.

The stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway that runs through Malibu has been shut down as most officials believe the fire could continue for another two to three days despite having more than 1,400 firefighters battling the blaze.
