Dalai Lama Enjoys Professorship at Emory University

Complete with a faculty card to avoid any confusion, the Dalai Lama was installed as a professor at Emory University on Monday following a weekend of delivering lectures and participating in conferences at the Atlanta, Ga. school.

The Dalai Lama found himself addressing several thousand people at the university on Monday, encouraging them to see beyond the accumulation of material items as a method of attaining happiness.

As a professor at Emory, the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader will now conduct private teaching lessons for Emory students and faculty members who travel to Dharamsala, India to take part in the school’s study-abroad program.

On October 17 the Dalai Lama was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor awarded in the United States.
