Stevenson Ranch Latest Area Hit by Southern California Fires

As the California fires continue to decimate San Diego, Malibu and the surrounding areas, Stevenson Ranch appears on the cusp of falling into the flames as well.

A new fire broke out on the west side of the Golden State Freeway and quickly put the residents of Stevenson Ranch in peril. The sheriff’s department began ordering evacuations as more than 100 firefighters were trying to contain the wildfire that had already scorched 50 acres.

While no homes had been damaged, the flames had approached the backyards of several. The California fires started early Sunday and have been impossible to contain as winds have been whipping around at hurricane strength causing water planes and helicopters to remain grounded.
