Chambers served 15 years in jail for manslaughter in the Jennifer Levin case. Since his release in 2003 he has stayed in trouble with the law for unpaid parking tickets, driving without a license and driving in an uninspected car. In 2005 he was arrested on drug charges when police found traces of heroin in his car. Chambers spent 100 days in jail for those charges.
Investigators say they observed “heavy” drug trafficking at the couple’s apartment over recent months. Undercover officers have bought more than a half a pound of cocaine from Chambers and Kovell. The pair is estimated to have made six to eight drug sales to undercover officers.
If Chambers is convicted of felony drug charges, the 41-year-old could spend up to 20 years in prison.
