Cisco Shares Slide After Major Product Debut

Networking gear maker, Cisco unveiled is new CRS-3 Carrier  Routing System on Tuesday with the introduction that the new device “will forever change the internet. Shares of the company (CSCO) slipped 1 percent following the announcement.

Cisco’s new product is designed to provide greater traffic capacity in order to meet the increasing requirements of video traffic and demands for more capable networking products.

The debut has "more than 12 times the traffic capacity of the nearest competing system," according to Cisco. Additionally, the new device triples the capacity of Cisco’s earlier system the CRS-1. The company stressed the speed of the system noting it "enables the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress to be downloaded in just over one second; every man, woman and child in China to make a video call, simultaneously; and every motion picture ever created to be streamed in less than four minutes."

 

AT&T was reportedly pleased with the product after performing the first field tests for the 100-gigabit network technology device.
