College Football News: Notre Dame Says Conference Expansion Could Effect Football Independence

Notre Dame has gone to great lengths to maintain their football independence but according to the school’s athletic director those days could be drawing to an end as talk of conference expansion has gained new momentum.

Jack Swarbrick has said Big Ten expansion could force the Fighting Irish to give up their independence but he stopped short of declaring that a certainty.

Both the Big Ten and Pac-10 have said they are looking into the possibility of adding schools to their conferences, a move that could cause scheduling problems for an independent football school like Notre Dame.
