Fed Officials Investigate California Prius Incident

Financial World News Update by Equities Magazine

Two Federal officials have been sent to California with the purpose of determining what caused a Toyota Prius to lose control on a San Diego-area freeway. The car’s drive James Sikes was driving on Interstate 8 in San Diego for 20 minutes on Monday without control over the speed of the car. A patrolling officer had to be enlisted to help Sikes control the speed.

Toyota is currently in the midst of a nearlt 10 million vehicle recall after it’s products were determined to have glitches in the pedal and brake that render them unsafe. Suspicions have emerged of late that the problems may be electronic and thus more complicated than originally concluded. Toyota has vehemently denied such allegations.

Tuesday, a U.S. Department of Transportation spokeswoman said that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was in the midst of getting to the bottom of the specific incident.

The Prius in question was a 2008 model and was taken to a dealership for inspection following the difficulties.
