Jury Recommends Death Sentence in Lisa Montgomery Trial

Lisa Montgomery broke down in tears as the jury who found her guilty of kidnapping and murdering expectant mother Bobbie Jo Stinnett, recommended the 39-year-old receive the death penalty.

Montgomery was convicted on Monday of killing Stinnett and cutting her baby from her womb in Skidmore, Missouri on December 16, 2004. On Friday that same jury deliberated for more than five hours before returning the death penalty recommendation.

It will be up to a judge to hand down the sentence but it is unlikely to be any different than the jury’s recommendation.

Prosecutors in the case were able to convince the jury that the murder had been premeditated after finding Montgomery had several internet searches saved on her computer that involved Caesareans.
