The Food and Drug Administration is cautioning doctors and individuals receiving medical care about the about imitation surgical mesh being criminally marketed under the well known C.R. Bard brand.
Thirteen lots of counterfeit Bard Flat mesh have caught the attention of the FDA. The imitation products come in four sizes.
Whether the surgical mesh is safe and/ or effective at post-surgically reinforcing soft tissue is not yet known. Doctors are being told to pay close attention to patients in the event adverse consequences occur as a result of the counterfeit products.
