Bullish remarks from Citigroup chief executive, Vikram Pandit pushed up financial sector as well as shares of the bank, which rose 22 cents to 5.6 percent today.
Citigroup shed riskier assets the year prompting optimism for the bank’s CEO. Pandit expects greater returns on assets in its core business this year, boosting shares of the ailing institution. Citigroups shares were trading at $4.18 at close.
