Suicide Bombings in Pakistan Leave at least 45 Dead

At least 45 people have been killed and several more left injured following a pair of suicide bombings in the Pakistani city of Lahore.

According to reports the bombings, which took place within seconds of each other, targeted military vehicles as they were passing through large crowds gathered near a shopping area.

While there have been no claims of responsibility the attack is consistent with attacks carried out by Taliban militants. Earlier this week the Taliban was responsible for the bombing of a building used by intelligence services. That attack left 13 people dead.

Many suspect the recent bombings are in response to a U.S. drone attack that killed Qari Zafar, a leader of the Punjabi Taliban.
