U.S. President Barack Obama Delays Trip to South East Asia, Continues to Push Healthcare Reform

With his healthcare reform proposals still lacking sufficient backing U.S. President Barack Obama has decided to delay a scheduled trip to South East Asia. Obama was to leave for Asia on March 18 with his wife and two daughters but will instead remain in Washington to focus on pushing his healthcare reforms through the Senate.

While Obama has made healthcare reform a top priority in his first term as president he has had little success getting it passed a Republican minority that has managed to block any legislation.

The difficulty Obama has faced concerning his healthcare proposals has now forced him to push his scheduled trip back three days. He is now set to travel on March 18 and visit Guam, Australia and Indonesia.
