Hawaii Fires Thought to be Work of an Arsonist
DestinationVillas Reports No Damage to Real Estate
DestinationVillas.com reports that hundreds who were ordered to evacuate their homes on the Big Island have been allowed to return to their homes along the northern coast of Hawaii's largest island.
Firefighters have verified that no homes were damaged and no one was injured by the fires, which appeared to have been the work of an arsonist. A total of nine fires were set in dry along the highway by a motorist.
According to the Associated Press “Althougth the danger to seaside homes in the Puako community had passed, three fires continued to burn out of control Sunday night over more than 2,000 acres of land, said Hawaii County Fire Department Battalion Chief Jerry Lum.”
