Duane “Dog” Chapman, star of the hit A&E show “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” seems to have an unruly pup. Chapman has been at the center of controversy the past few days due to a phone conversation he had with his son, Tucker Chapman, in which he used racial slurs while attempting to sway the younger Chapman into breaking up with his black girlfriend Monique Shinnery.
As it turns out, it was Tucker Chapman, who recorded the conversation then sold it to the National Enquirer for “a lot of money” according to Dog’s attorney.
Dog Chapman immediately apologized for his tirade after the conversation became public and released a statement saying he had the "utmost respect and aloha for black people who have suffered so much due to racial discrimination and acts of hatred.”
“I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face to an entire race of people who have brought so many gifts to this world. I am ashamed of myself and I pledge to do whatever I can to repair this damage I have caused.”
“My sincerest, heartfelt apologies go out to every person I have offended for my regrettable use of very inappropriate language. I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation.”
Production of “Dog the Bounty Hunter” has been suspended but the show has not been canceled.
