Kelsey Peterson and 13-Year-Old Boy Still on the Run

Kelsey Peterson, a 25-year-old middle school teacher, and Fernando Rodriguez, a 13-year-old student at the same school, have yet to be located by authorities after the two fled their small Nebraska town amidst an investigation into their relationship.

A sixth-grade math teacher at Lexington Middle School, Peterson had been placed on administrative leave last week after officials uncovered signs that the teacher had carried on a relationship with a 13-year-old student.

On Monday an arrest warrant was issued for Peterson, charging her with kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Authorities have been unable to locate Peterson, and Rodriguez was last seen on October 26.

The 13-year-old contacted his family last weekend and told them that he was about 85 miles away in Grand Island, Neb. He is also believed to have contacted his aunt and asked whether a visa was necessary to enter Mexico.
