Ryan Shay dies at US Olympic Team Trials

Ryan Shay died on Saturday during the U.S. men’s Olympics marathon trials at the age of 28. The professional distance runner collapsed 5 1/2 miles into the 26.2 mile qualifier for the Beijing Games.

Shay was married to Alicia, who is also a professional runner. His death was confirmed after the race. “My thoughts and prayers just go out to them and their family. It’s a sad thing,” said winner Ryan Hall.
