King Tut Put on Public Display in Luxur, Egypt

It has been 85 years since the mummified body of King Tut was discovered in the Valley of the Kings and for the first time the body of the legendary pharaoh was put on display for public viewing.

Known throughout history as “the golden boy,” about the only thing still preserved on 3,000 year-old body is his face which now bears a leather-like appearance.

In 1922 the body of Tutankhamun was discovered by Howard Carter and while the ruler carried little historical significance his popularity in modern culture has made him a dominant figure of ancient Egypt.

By displaying the Tut’s mummy Egypt is hoping to boost the tourism industry of Luxor. The mummy will be available for viewing on Monday and will remain in the tomb indefinitely.
