Ron Paul issued a $12 million challenge to his supporters for the Hope for America fourth quarter fundraising campaign and according to the numbers posted on the Web site of the Republican presidential hopeful, he may want to bump that number up a bit.
By 4:00 EST. Paul had already amassed over $5.5 million in contributions, surpassing the total amount he raised for the entire third quarter.
What’s even more amazing for Ron Paul is the fact that he has stepped back and allowed his online activists to organize fundraisers. Their ability to issue a challenge and follow through has been made evident with their Ron Paul November 5th one-day challenge in which they called on 100,000 people to donate $100 each for a total of $10 million.
While the $10 million may seem a bit high, Paul has seen a tremendous influx of dollars on Monday due to the fundraising campaign.
Paul was the only Republican to raise more money in the third quarter than in the second and he has already surpassed that mark with nearly two months remaining until the fourth quarter ends Dec. 31.
