LaDainian Tomlinson Signed by Jets

After having been released by the San Diego Chargers less than a month ago, LaDainian Tomlinson has signed with the New York Jets. The two-year contract is apparently for $5.1 million with an escalator that might increase it to $5.6 million. Tomlinson’s agent Tom Condon said “He wanted to go to a team that he thought had a chance to compete for the championship.” And, indeed, the Jets seem to be a good contender. Last season, they made it all the way to the AFC Championship before they were beat by the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. Tomlinson is a 5-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2006 Associated Press NFL MVP. He is widely considered to be one of the most talented and versatile offensive players in the history of the NFL. He was released by the Chargers on February 22nd because of his decreasing numbers and increasing age (he turns 31 in June), but it seems likely that he will be able to work well with the Jets and their style of offense.
