The Narconon program uses the world renowned common sense moral code The Way to Happiness as part of its teachings to recovering drug addicts. This moral code was written in the 1980's when it was recognized by its author L. Ron Hubbard that moral decline in society had stepped up to new levels and nowhere was there a truly universal non-religious moral code for the modern age. Since its publication The Way to Happiness has been distributed in more than 90 languages and to the tune of 70 million copies.
The huge popularity of this book by Presidents, Senators, governments, business and civic groups gives one the idea of the importance of this book. It has been adopted as part of the Narconon program and is in use at the Narconon program in Michigan in not only book form but also on a newly released DVD which details the entire book as a full length movie.
Precept 10 in the book states, "Support a Government Designed and Run for All the People". In this former addicts learn the importance of a proper government and the results of an improper one. Although it may seem extraordinary to some to teach this to drug addicts, the truth is many addicts never rise up to learning their social responsibilities and that contributes to their decline. For a recovered addict to properly function in society, he needs to have an understanding of how that society runs and how to steer away from the traps of dishonest men.
