Injured Beckham Might Miss World Cup

Soccer Star Suffers Torn Tendon

On Sunday, David Beckham suffered what may prove to be one of his most devastating injuries ever. During the final minutes of a game that pitted his AC Milan team against Chievo Verona, Beckham tore his left Achilles tendon. The painful injury sent a teary Beckham off the field and may even keep him out of the 2010 World Cup. England’s coach Fabio Capello said “We have to wait for the results of the scan, but it looks like he is out of the World Cup.” Beckham was set to be the first English player ever to participate in four World Cups, but the injury may very well keep this star soccer player out of the famous international tournament. Although he has not been a top player for the English national team lately, he was likely to be a reserve for the World Cup team. A member of the English Football Hall of Fame, Beckham is the highest-paid MLS player and one of the most popular soccer players in the world. He is married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.
