David Beckham will not be appearing in a fourth World Cup for England as the soccer star travelled to Finland to undergo surgery on a torn Achilles’ tendon he suffered on Sunday while playing for AC Milan.
Beckham, 34, was in line to become the first English player to appear in four World Cups when he pulled up in Sunday’s match before falling to the pitch.
Despite the near certainty that Beckham won’t recover in time for the World Cup the Finnish doctor set to operate on the star has said there is a “glimmer of hope” he could be ready for South Africa in June.
