Duane “Dog” Chapman is scheduled to appear on tonight’s episode of Larry King Live to discuss his recent high-profile phone tirade that led to his popular show, “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” being pulled by the A&E network.
Dog Chapman is expected to address the conversation that he had with his son, Tucker Chapman, and the racial slurs that were used in the tirade. Tucker Chapman recorded the conversation and sold the tape to the National Enquirer.
Excerpts of that conversation contained several instances of Dog Chapman using racial slurs when referring to Tucker’s African American girlfriend, Monique Shinnery.
Chapman was recorded saying, “I'm not taking a chance...not because she's black but because we use the word n----- sometimes here. I'm not going to take any chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for 30 years because some drunken n----- heard us say n----- and turned us into the Enquirer magazine…I'm not taking that chance at all never in life. Never.”
After the private conversation was made public Duane Chapman released a statement saying, "I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face to an entire race of people who have brought so many gifts to this world. I am ashamed of myself and I pledge to do whatever I can to repair this damage I have caused.”
Dog continued, “My sincerest, heartfelt apologies go out to every person I have offended for my regrettable use of very inappropriate language," he continued. "I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation.”
The Larry King interview with Duane Chapman will air at 9:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
