Hank Thompson dies days after canceling tour
“He was battling aggressive lung cancer. He remained conscious until the last couple of hours and passed away peacefully at about 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday night surrounded by his family and friends,” said Tracy Pitcox, president of Heart of Texas Records.
Thompson had 29 of his song reach the top 10 and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989. Thompson requested that no funeral be held. Instead there will be a “celebration of life” on November 14 at ‘Billy Bob’s
Thompson is survived by his wife, Ann. They did not have children.
