Carrie Underwood Picks up Female Vocalist of the Year at CMA’s

Former “American Idol” champ Carrie Underwood continued her climb through the ranks of country music on Wednesday night as she took home the CMA's award for Female Vocalist of the Year.

This is the second year in a row the 24-year-old has won the award.

Underwood earned the award after besting Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire.

After accepting the honor Underwood told the crowd, “God has blessed me with so many things. I will spend the rest of my life trying to figure out why ... it all started for me with American Idol.”
