Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi Encourages Nigeria to Split into Two Nations

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi used a speech to students to advocate his proposal encouraging Nigeria to split into two nations as a means of ensuring peace between Muslims and Christians.

Gaddafi was quoted as saying a split Nigeria “would stop the bloodshed and burning of places of worship.” While violence between Muslims and Christian communities occurs, it often involves more than just religious divides.

The proposal presented by Gaddafi is not something Nigeria is taking seriously despite its already obvious split with Muslims dominating the north while Christians are the heavy majority in the south.

These kind of ideas are common for Gaddafi who just last year said Switzerland should be abolished and their land divided between Italy, Germany and France.
