Tiger Woods Returns

Golf Legend Sets Date and Location for Return

It has been approximately a month since Tiger Woods delivered a highly anticipated public announcement, in which he apologized to all those who were affected by his marital infidelity and declared that his return to golf might come as soon as this year. Since then, there has been a continuous stream of speculation about when Tiger Woods will return to golf. Well, earlier today, all of that speculation was laid to rest when Woods announced that he will make his return to competitive golf by playing in the 2010 Masters tournament. The where and when: Woods’ return will begin on April 8th at the August National Golf Club in Georgia. The why: Tiger says that “The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta.” The response: PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said "We were pleased to learn that Tiger Woods will be playing the Masters in a few weeks." Nike, who continued to support Woods while other companies dropped him as a sponsor, said "We look forward to Tiger's return to the Masters and seeing him back on the course." Woods explained in his statement that "I have undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy and I am continuing my treatment... Although I'm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life."

Woods last played on November 15th. Shortly after that, he was involved in a mysterious car crash outside of his home that sparked a media frenzy regarding his personal life and allegations of marital infidelity. Since then, he has confessed to marital infidelity and has undergone therapy to deal with his personal issues. He also lost a number of high-profile corporate sponsorship deals and announced an indefinite departure from the world of competitive golf. Now, with a definite date set for his return, this World Number 1 golfer and 4-time winner of the Masters may soon find his way back to professional golf glory.

Tiger Woods is undoubtedly one of the greatest professional golfers that ever lived. Currently ranked number 1 in the world, he is the youngest player to achieve a career Grand Slam (meaning that he won all four of the Major golf championships at least once in his career) and the youngest and fastest player to have won 50 tournaments on tour. He is a 4-time winner of the U.S. Masters, a 3-time winner of the U.S. Open, and a 4-time winner of the PGA Championship. With his second rise to the top apparently at hand, this is a great time to memorialize the career of this legendary golfer. Hollywood Collectibles offers a great variety of Tiger Woods memorabilia, including such things as a framed game used glove swatch, signed framed photos, and an autographed commemorative card with a range driven golf ball.
